FINAL RESULTS The Organizing Committee of the 1st International EPICMUSIC Composition Prize is very proud to announce the winner of the 2004 contest: Richard ARNEST (USA) with Liquescence. The Jury composed by Daniele Zanettovich (Composer, Conductor), Paolo Pessina (Composer, Conductor), Enzo Caroli (concert Flutist), Emilio Pessina (President and CEO of EPICMUSIC), Giuseppe Rodolfi (Vice-President EPICMUSIC) and Madame Countess Margherita Cassis Faraone (Honour member) made a first selection (among 90 scores received from all over the world) at the end of November 2004, choosing 13 compositions for the final decision held in the second decade of January 2005. Due to the outstanding level of the works received, the Jury has decided to assign also three 'Honour Mentions' «for the writing ability and a very personal language in balance between tradition and innovation» to Alkis BALTAS (Greece) with Between Two Worlds, to Pertti JALAVA (Finland) with In the wind and to Stephen YIP (HongKong/USA) with Shun other than one 'Special Mention' to Max STERN (Israel) with Three Ancient Pieces. Those composers will receive their Certificate by ordinary mail. During June-September 2005 the winning work (Liquescence by Richard Arnest) will be played by the flutist Enzo Caroli and the Orchestra Sinfonica Adriatica conducted by Paolo Pessina in two concerts and two recording sessions, together with creations of Jean Françaix (Impromptu pour flute et cordes) Daniele Zanettovich (Concerto “detto il Casanova”) and Paolo Pessina (Flute Concerto Op.64 "Odisseus") that will be distributed on CD by the magazine Falaut on April 2006. Further concerts of the winning work and/or the special mentioned works will be announced directly to the composers via email and published in this website. Trieste, January 27, 2005 RISULTATO FINALE Il Comitato Organizzatore del 1st International EPICMUSIC Composition Prize è onorato di annunciare il vincitore della prima edizione 2004 del concorso: Richard Arnest (USA) con Liquescence. La Giuria, composta da Daniele Zanettovich (compositore, direttore d'orchestra), Paolo Pessina (compositore, direttore d'orchestra), Enzo Caroli (flautista concertista), Emilio Pessina (Presidente di EPICMUSIC), Giuseppe Rodolfi (Vice-Presidente di EPICMUSIC) e dalla Contessa Margherita Cassis Faraone (membro onorario), alla fine di Novembre 2004 ha fatto una prima selezione (tra oltre 90 partiture ricevute da tutto il mondo) scegliendo 13 composizioni per la decisione finale, avvenuta nella seconda decade di Gennaio 2005. Visto l'altissimo livello delle composizioni ricevute, la Giuria ha deciso di segnalare altre 3 composizioni
con la 'Menzione d'Onore' «Per la capacità di scrittura e la ricerca
di un personale linguaggio, in equilibrio fra tradizione ed innovazione» ad
