ANNOUNCEMENT The purpose of the 1st International EPICMUSIC Composition Prize is to encourage composers to contribute to the growth and excellence of contemporary music. The piece should be free from existent aesthetics or concepts, and must be fresh in its musical narrativety as a whole, rather than conforming with the historical achievement, and not only showing special instrumental techniques, nor in strange novelty merely for its sake. RULES 1. The Competition is open to composers of all ages and nationalities. 2. There will be only one winning work that will be recorded and distributed on CD by an italian label during 2005. The performers will be the Orchestra Sinfonica Adriatica conducted by Paolo Pessina and the soloist will be the virtuoso flutist Enzo Caroli. Additional performances during 2005-2006 season, when possible. 3. The required composition is a work for solo Flute and String Orchestra (Strings: 4.3.2.2.1) with no electronics. The duration of the submitted pieces should be about 10 minutes, and must be within 15 minutes and be indicated on the score. 4. The composition must be unpublished, never have been performed in public nor have been awarded a prize under its present or other title. 5. Each composer may present only one composition. 6. Registration fee of Euro 50,00 non refundable. 7. The complete application form (download the pdf file at the bottom of this page) and scores should be addressed to "Associazione EPICMUSIC" by registered mail, not later than November 1st 2004. 8. The compositions will be examined by an international renowned jury. The decision of the judges will be final. 9. The winning work will be announced and notified also directly to the composer, by November 30, 2004. 10. None of the materials submitted shall be returned to the applicants. 11. The winning composer formally agrees to include the statement: "First Prize Award - 1st International EPICMUSIC Composition Prize, 2004" in any further publications, performances, recordings, etc. of the award winning composition.
